Seventh Anniversary – Kate Taylor

We are thrilled to celebrate Kate Taylor’s seventh anniversary! Kate is our Vice President. Over the past seven years, Kate has become an invaluable member of the BTR family. In celebration of this important milestone, we asked Kate a few questions. Here’s why we love her:

What are the key issues that you see BTR addressing in the future?

We are always evolving as a company and staying on top of trends within this fast paced industry. I think one of the biggest thorns is still the data highway.  We are slowly seeing progress and BTR has been instrumental in helping push this progress along. We hope to continue to see more progress in this area and currently working with both carriers and vendors to help it evolve to the level clients expect.

What could you give a 30-minute presentation about with no advance preparation?

I could easily give a presentation on the best practices around the implementation and ongoing management of benefit administration technology.

What is your title and what is a day in the life for you like?

My title is Vice President.  My day involves meeting with several different team members in all departments to stay engaged with what they are doing, how we are performing and executing as well as helping with all strategic decisions for BTR.  I love my job and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else on a daily basis.

What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?

My Dad who is also in the industry has been a wonderful mentor for me.  He always tells me (especially when I get stressed) to keep my focus on the most important things, treat others with respect and kindness and the rest will always work itself out… my children, my family, my relationships and my Christian faith.

Describe a recent project that you’ve learned from. What did you learn throughout the process?

Never forget as a leader to empower others.  Don’t try to just fix a problem, others do not learn if you simply fix the issue. Growth for rising leaders is through empowerment and encouragement.
